Daily News Recap (April 29, 2010)

Earlier we told you about Steve’s thoughts on Flash. Adobe responded. (Shocking, we know) Adobe’s CEO called BS on Steve. Additionally, Adobe released Flash for Mac beta. Apple earned itself a third place ranking amongst strongest global brands… Side-note: HP & Blackberry were ranked #5 & #6. Steve is #5 on the Time 100, Congrats Mr. Jobs. Oh and he still cares about the Mac, you are so nice…

Quite a few rumors regarding the next iPhone and none of them have to do with Gizmodo. Everyone seems to think it will be released during WWDC. Chosun is reporting that LG will be supplying a 5-megapixel camera for the next iPhone. Maybe the new one will be different, but the current iPhone can’t handle 9Gs. We at TheMacFeed were thinking about advertising on iAd, until the Wall Street Journal told us about the million dollar price tag. Apple has surpassed Motorola as America’s largest mobile phone supplier. Seems the iPad 3G has shown up a tad bit early.

Another busy day for patents. It started with multi-touch. Then there was some invisible light tricks. Then there was the flood of trademarks:

Finally, if you haven’t seen this video, it’s time.

Daily News Recap (April 23, 2010)

Remember that idea about Apple buying ARM, not so fast says ARM’s CEO. Apple acknowledged the delays regarding BTO 15″ MacBook Pro’s. We all knew it was coming… Seems Gizmodo’s $5000 iPhone has got the attention of local police. Wired believes the most recent MagSafe is safer then previous models. Apple filed for a trademark regarding Magic Mouse. Steve Jobs is flying again. YouTube has launched the war on iTunes. Finally, Apple has grabbed 72% of the Japanese smartphone market.

Review: iZotope Music & Speech Cleaner

As you know, we’ve started to do some recording. If you didn’t know, here is a good place to check out. We haven’t gone to the studio level, but we did make a tiny investment in a mic. For the most part, it performs well, particularly when you consider the price and the fact that it’s USB. Anyways, the one thing we need to do in terms of the audio is minor clean-up. Given the software that was already on our computer, we had a solution. Albeit a costly solution, Adobe’s SoundBooth worked for us. But what happens if we didn’t want to $750 to get rid of some buzz? iZotope recently released what we thought was a solution – Music & Speech Cleaner. After the jump is the part where we review it.

Daily News Recap (February 1, 2010)

Spent all of Sunday night watching the Grammys? Well, if you didn’t then you missed the first non-Apple employee with an iPad, none other then Stephen Colbert. Digitimes had something to say about how the iPad affects China’s e-book market. Our favorite story of the day: a Chinese clone maker is considering suing Apple for taking its version of an oversized iPod touch and turning it into an iPad. TUAW pondered where the iMag store is. Someone figured out a way to put Windows 7 on an iPad. Dennis Sellers asked where the Verizon iPad went while Dan Frommer at Business Week insisted it was still on track – funny how FoxNews was the one that claimed the Verizon iPad.

Apple released iTunes 9.0.3. Arnold Kim at MacRumors did some more reflecting on the iPad news, including the fact that the only source (China Times) that correctly predicted the screen size also predicts a 22″ touchscreen iMac. Hardmac claims that Apple has suspended production of all 27″ iMacs until it sorts out the yellow screen issue, sounds like Toyota doesn’t it? TheLoop is reporting that 9 out of every 10 computers over $1000 were Macs – here’s to the Mac tax. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the iPhone lost market share in the 4th quarter, yet still managed to gain ground? A Virginia wireless company is suing Apple claiming it stole a bunch of patented things, for $10 million we imagine this will be settled quickly. 9to5Mac thinks that Apple is now getting a Twitter account, in addition to the newly founded YouTube page. Logitech has found a way to turn your iPhone into a trackpad. Intel claims that SSDs will double in size by the end of 2010. Our favorite media player, VLC, was updated to version 1.0.5 and Wacom announced its new (and) completely wireless Intuos4 pen tablet.

Perhaps tomorrow we won’t have to have a section dedicated to the iPad. Sigh.
