Daily News Recap (June 18, 2010)

Since we all wanted a 128 GB iPod touch – Toshiba announced the storage should be out in September. In the mean time, the iPhone 4 was running around in the wild in the Czech Republic a tad bit earlier then Apple had planned. Speaking of plans and iPhone 4 release dates – Canada, you may be screwed. That’s okay with the Americans, as some users are seeing a “Prepared for Shipment” status. As predicted, Apple launched a new rendition of MobileMe and a Find My iPhone App. In the “you really had to tell us this” section of the news today. Apparently the iPhone 4 is having display issues and O2 would like to tell you that the iPhone 4 may be in short supply. Apple doesn’t want the FCC revealing all of the secrets of the iPhone 4. Why? Because some of it is still secret. Forrester Research is thinking that the iPad sales are going to start plummeting. Meanwhile, one data firm is reporting that Apple’s share of the U.S. mobile ad market is declining. These two factors clearly had a huge impact on Apple stock, as it hit $275 for the first time in its history.

Daily News Recap (May 10, 2010)

The Australian rendition of Macworld is reporting that the MacBook Air will be receiving an update tomorrow. The NPD claims that the Android OS has overtaken the iPhone OS. Someone thinks that Lady Gaga is the next Apple spokesperson. Hold on, when did Apple have a spokesperson? Seems the SoHo Apple store isn’t fond of Chinese.

International iPad pre-orders have started. O2 & Vodafone announced their data plans. Seems the Japanese rendition has been locked to Softbank. Seems all of you that complained about the international pricing have achieved something, in Germany. Steve has promised printing for everyone’s tablet.

By far the most important news of the day: Apple & AT&T definitely signed a five-year exclusivity deal for the iPhone.

And in the daily edition of “The Next Employee Fired at Apple” – whoever designed the Toy Story 3 website.

Daily News Recap (April 14, 2010)

How many episodes of LOST are left? Barely 24 hours after hitting stores, seems the 13″ MacBook Pro is already selling out. Steve thinks the next release of Final Cut will be “awesome.” Intel recently clarified that Light Peak might logically succeed USB 3.0. After the announcement that the iPad has been internationally delayed, Rogers and O2 have begun to discuss the carrier rates. The iPad is not welcome… in Israel.

Dates regarding the release of the next iPhone continue to be guessed, seems June 22 is the logical choice. iPhone OS 4.0 seems to point towards some sort of automobile dashboard – we’ll wait and see. Apple has filed for a trademark regarding iAd. Seems Opera Mini was a good idea.

Daily News Recap (March 8, 2010)

Still busy figuring out how you never heard of the Hurt Locker? Steve was in Disney capacity last night and in his Disney clothes, not his normal Apple garb. For those of you not in attendance, Apple showed off their iPad ad (three times) last night during the Oscars. (Yes, it’s smaller big brother the iPhone did the same thing) Apple has a new idea, it’s called the iKey. All Things Digital believes we might see some ridiculous numbers regarding Mac sales for February. Portal 2, Steam and other games from Valve are now officially coming to the Mac. Patently Apple found some more information regarding the changes to Apple Remote. Apple and a bunch of other companies got yelled at by Richard Durbin for not testifying before the Senate Human Rights Committee.

9 to 5 Mac (and everyone else) examined the aforementioned iPad ad and found that books are available from $7.99-$14.99, as well as some other stuff. A team of executives are heading from Cupertino to the UK to negotiate iPad pricing. IDC believes that the iPad won’t be helping Windows tablets. HP and Adobe decided to show off Flash working on the (HP) Slate. TUAW finally asked the logical question: will all the iPhone apps find their way to the iPad?

O2 decided to correct their mistake from last week regarding video calls on the iPhone. Gizmodo explained how Time Warner is going to make AT&T’s network “suck less.” The never-ending saga of the China Unicom Wi-Fi iPhone continues. AT&T tried an Android phone, the universal opinion on it: try again. Regarding the HTC lawsuit, Apple has 3,013 patents? Fact check, Patently Apple, anyone?

Daily News Recap (February 4, 2010)

Dennis Sellers thinks Apple might be able to use the iPad name… in Europe. If they do, the Mac Observer thinks it might show up on O2. While AT&T claims that their network can handle iPad – the U.S. government thinks different. Our favorite clone maker (who can’t deliver products on time) announced they have no plans to clone an iPad. But if they can’t beat, Sony thinks they can and Amazon bought a multitouch company. Gawker reported that Steve Jobs has traveled to New York to meet with various media outlets.

In non-iPad news, Verizon posted a couple of sexist commercials. Apple changed the preview feature regarding iTunes or something like that. MacNN reports on the mess that is the 27″ iMac, refunds, seriously? While the education sector may be Apple’s key market, but working at the White House is the newest. Trillian (AOL’s AIM client) is coming to the Mac, you should still use Adium. MacNN rummaged through the iPhone SDK 3.2 and thinks that iPhone may record in 720p. O2 announced that they had sold two million iPhones – we have no joke, except to laugh at the rest of the smartphone industry as Apple continues to outgrow them. Rob Janoff posted a must-read regarding the creation of the Apple logo, by the way – he created it. AT&T announced that they were going to allow SlingPlayer on 3G for iPhone. And in the rant of the day section: Credit Suisse downgraded Verizon because it’s unclear that they will be getting the iPhone. Seriously, there is zero evidence of the iPhone going to Verizon and people wonder why our economy is awful?
