Daily News Recap (June 4, 2010)

Light day on news. Apple has begun setting up for WWDC 2010. Turns out Gizmodo wasn’t invited. Perhaps MobileMe will be updated. Apple launched a resource page for HTML5. Rescuecom dropped Apple to third in their latest reliability report. But don’t worry Steve, Apple was the only U.S. computer company to outgrow the market growth in Q1. Foxconn’s wonderful time continues.

There is some belief that the new iPhone might be available on June 18th. The iPhone 3G is no more. Speaking of AT&T, the backlash regarding their new data plans continues. AT&T indicated that there will be no tethering between iPhone and iPad. AT&T then decided to allow some users to buy an unlimited data plan before June 7th. SquareTrade updated their insurance plan… yeah, it’s a whole lot better then AT&Ts.

HTML5 looks Flashy

Apparently, tonight Apple added a demo page for HTML5 – titled HTML5 and web standards – showing demos off Video, Typography, Gallery, Transitions, Audio, 360 View, and VR all of which is completely viewable on mobile safari. In addition to the demos, there is a short little message:

Every new Apple mobile device and every new Mac — along with the latest version of Apple’s Safari web browser — supports web standards including HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript. These web standards are open, reliable, highly secure, and efficient. They allow web designers and developers to create advanced graphics, typography, animations, and transitions. Standards aren’t add-ons to the web. They are the web. And you can start using them today.

The Weekend Update (May 9, 2010)

Not exactly the definition of a news-filled weekend. Still, someone has to do it. Apple filed for a trademark on “iTunes Live.” Apple’s developing a new Flash of its own. Steve answered questions about the iPad’s international pricing. Seems the new iPhone is getting built. The Apple store went down and nothing happened. Finally, President Obama talked about the iPad. Yes, literally, that’s news.

And in closing, Happy Mother’s Day from TheMacFeed Staff.

Daily News Recap (May 5, 2010)

Apparently Charlie’s summer is only going to last one day. Yesterday, Ellen made fun of Apple, then got a call from Apple, then apologized. Steve has promised HTML5 support for Safari “soon.” In addition to updating Safari, Cupertino seems to be updating its own downloads page. Intel’s Lightpeak is now shipping in 2011.

On the legal front… Apple might change the iPhone SDK in order to avoid the wrath of the FTC. Thanks Adobe. Kevin Lynch (Adobe CTO) then claimed it was Apple that was playing the “legal games.” He then went onto claim that Flash doesn’t suck on the iPhone. Hey buddy, it sucks on the Mac. Sure, we are playing favorites – but Adobe is just being stupid. However, Apple is not going to avoid a patent lawsuit over the iPhone. (Yawn) Apple filed a “Made for iPhone” trademark and then one for the iPad.

AT&T is dropping more calls then ever, leading to the logical question: is it the iPad’s fault? (No, it’s AT&T’s) If you would like the 3G rendition of the iPad, you better have a home address.

Apple has switched suppliers for the next iPhone. Seems it might be able to record HD videos Patently Apple has reported that Apple might be testing iTravel in Montreal. Apple released iPhone OS 4 Beta 3 and it includes filesharing? And in case you were wondering, Apple is winning that war with the Android.

MacRumors has launched a blood drive, the first MacRumors community service project to date. If you would like to become the Mrs. Daniel Feeney, there’s an app for that site for that.

Daily News Recap (April 30, 2010)

Well. The trick to Blogo seems to be the restart button… go figure. Apple Stores around the country closed from 4-5 PM for the launch of some product called the iPad Wi-Fi + 3G. Too bad, no Skype calls for you, at least over 3G. After all that drama yesterday, Adobe seems to have just given up on Apple. Adobe the proceeded to ship CS5, the first one with 64-bit support for Mac OS X.

Well… we all knew it wasn’t going to go away. The guy that found Gizmodo’s $5000 iPhone has spoken, or at least his lawyer. Apple has decided to shutdown Lala, surprise… hardly. The iTunes Movie Store is now available in Ireland & France.

The week of patents continued. Apple decided that a disappearing button would be cool. Apple won an Industrial Design award for the Apple Remote. Then they finished up their trademarking:

Daily News Recap (April 29, 2010)

Earlier we told you about Steve’s thoughts on Flash. Adobe responded. (Shocking, we know) Adobe’s CEO called BS on Steve. Additionally, Adobe released Flash for Mac beta. Apple earned itself a third place ranking amongst strongest global brands… Side-note: HP & Blackberry were ranked #5 & #6. Steve is #5 on the Time 100, Congrats Mr. Jobs. Oh and he still cares about the Mac, you are so nice…

Quite a few rumors regarding the next iPhone and none of them have to do with Gizmodo. Everyone seems to think it will be released during WWDC. Chosun is reporting that LG will be supplying a 5-megapixel camera for the next iPhone. Maybe the new one will be different, but the current iPhone can’t handle 9Gs. We at TheMacFeed were thinking about advertising on iAd, until the Wall Street Journal told us about the million dollar price tag. Apple has surpassed Motorola as America’s largest mobile phone supplier. Seems the iPad 3G has shown up a tad bit early.

Another busy day for patents. It started with multi-touch. Then there was some invisible light tricks. Then there was the flood of trademarks:

Finally, if you haven’t seen this video, it’s time.

Steve Jobs’ Thoughts on Flash

We all knew this was coming… After the jump read Steve’s take on why Flash isn’t and shouldn’t be on the iPhone platform.
