White iPhone 4s Delayed, Again

Once again, the white iPhone 4 has been delayed, this time till “later this year.” Apple’s statement follows.

“White models of Apple’s new iPhone® 4 have continued to be more challenging to manufacture than we originally expected, and as a result they will not be available until later this year. The availability of the more popular iPhone 4 black models is not affected.”

Press Conference Video Available, Antenna Performance Page Live

That was quick! Just a short time after the conclusion of the press conference, the video is live as well as a Smartphone antenna performance page which highlights the same phones shown in the Keynote earlier today: the Blackberry Bold 9700, HTC Droid Eris, and the Samsung Omnia II all with more detailed information and the location of the antenna marked on each device. In addition to the competition, there is a part on the iPhone 4 and the 3GS showing their antenna location and the way to produce the signal drop. This page is definitely worth checking out.

Free Cases, Register Next Week

Today at Apple’s press conference the conclusion was a free case (a refund for all purchased bumpers) or a complete refund for the iPhone 4. The vast majority of people will be going in for the free case, but since Apple can not make bumpers fast enough, they will give a choice of couple of different cases (new Incase cases a possibility?) Next week is when you can register and I am sure you want to be the first to do so as 3 million other iPhone owners are planing to do the same thing.

Apple Removes Consumer Reports iPhone 4 Threads

Monday, Consumer Reports concluded their in-depth tests by saying that they “cannot recommend the iPhone 4″ until Apple comes up with a permanent, free fix for the antenna issue.  That same day, TUAW noticed that posts in Apple’s discussion boards regarding Consumer Reports post were vanishing, leaving just the error “Error: you do not have permission to view the requested forum or category.” This didn’t happen just once or twice but a couple of times. Wired’s Eliot Van Buskirk did notice that at least two posts still remain, but what about the rest?

You can view Consumer Reports entire post here and view the video after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

App Store Turns Two

Today, TUAW pointed out is the App Store’s second birthday (Apps were available for download today, iOS required to use them available tomorrow). Today, there are over 225,000 apps in the ever growing store while just two years ago, there was a little more than 500. That, for any company, is a huge accomplishment. Another way to look at it is numbers (as pointed out by a TUAW reader):

AAPL closing price, 10 July 2008: $176.63
AAPL closing price, 09 July 2010: $259.62

From all of us at TheMacFeed, happy birthday App Store and congratulations Apple. You can view the 2008 press release after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »
