Daily News Recap (June 16, 2010)

Despite most the news centering around the iPhone 4 and its sales, somehow there was still more. The idiots at Adobe, Google, Motorola and Verizon have scheduled a Droid event, the day before the iPhone 4 release. Don’t worry, we’ll be liveblogging it. In other instances of stupidity, AT&T claims that its quality issues will be resolved soon. Speaking of AT&T, their good friend – the one that hacked all those iPads, is being held on drug charges… go figure. Back on sales numbers, turns out Apple’s Bumper case for iPhone 4 is selling well. Some international iPhone plans have been released, including unlocked phones in Canada and all countries related.

iTunes saw quite a few updates. Version 9.2 was released for download. Some new things appeared in the iTunes stores. One was the comic “Ulysses”, the other were apps designed for iOS 4. iFixIt tore apart the new Mac mini and Adobe took the opportunity to criticize Apple. Oh you are right, that last part isn’t really news.

Daily News Recap (May 8, 2010)

Amongst all that excitement that was the time before WWDC, someone leaked pictures of a magical trackpad… yeah it didn’t happen. In addition to that rumor that didn’t come true, Nike and Polar decided to announce a heart rate monitor… in the middle of WWDC. Apple changed the language within its developer agreement to allow for third-party advertising, just not from Google or Adobe. Another final note from the keynote, seems Apple forgot to announce iWork for iPhone? HP is now offering printers that will allow you to print directly from your iPhone. Just hours after iOS 4 went GM, it was jailbroken. We should see iTunes 9.2 when iOS 4 goes public on June 21st. On the 28th, you will be able to pick up the next iPhone at Radio Shack. Microsoft was not so impressed with Safari 5. They also announced that they won’t be offering a 64-bit rendition of the next version of Office for Mac (2011) due out later this year. Finally, embattled Apple supplier Foxconn is giving amount even more raises and paying the families of suicide victims.

And… If you’d like to be the next Mrs. Daniel Feeney (or the first) – Mac dating site Cupidtino has gone beta.

Daily News Recap (June 4, 2010)

Light day on news. Apple has begun setting up for WWDC 2010. Turns out Gizmodo wasn’t invited. Perhaps MobileMe will be updated. Apple launched a resource page for HTML5. Rescuecom dropped Apple to third in their latest reliability report. But don’t worry Steve, Apple was the only U.S. computer company to outgrow the market growth in Q1. Foxconn’s wonderful time continues.

There is some belief that the new iPhone might be available on June 18th. The iPhone 3G is no more. Speaking of AT&T, the backlash regarding their new data plans continues. AT&T indicated that there will be no tethering between iPhone and iPad. AT&T then decided to allow some users to buy an unlimited data plan before June 7th. SquareTrade updated their insurance plan… yeah, it’s a whole lot better then AT&Ts.

Review: Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500M (Scanner Series: Part 2 of 3)

So, the NeatDesk for Mac was great.  But in the words of Douglas Malock, “The tree that never had to fight for sun and sky and air and light…never became a forest king, but lives and dies a scrawny thing…”  With that in mind, may we present the competition: The Fujitsu ScanScap S1500M.  The ScanSnap is aimed more towards the professional audience, but remains a worthy competitor nonetheless – and the subject of part 2 of 3 of our scanner series. The Weekend Update

So there was tons of news. Vietnam is Steve Jobs favorite country given the new leaks regarding the MacBook. AT&T is planning some updates. Finally, Steve and Gawker had an interesting conversation.

Daily News Recap (May 13, 2010)

Sorry for the double delay. A lot of news yesterday, the most anticipated: Steam for Mac. Apple updated MobileMe. Steve claimed the lack of Mac Design Awards at WWDC is not something of concern.

Apple topped Consumer Reports ranks for cellphone stores. And that was all the good news on the iPhone front for Infinite Loop. So you remember that iPhone Gizmodo bought? Then there was that one Engadget had pictures of. Now there is one on a Korean forum. (Specs via iFixIt) Some debate exists as to if it was running iPhone OS 4. You knew it was bad when there was another one. New reports peg Pegatron as supplying CDMA iPhones. Verizon anyone? John Gruber claims that the production of the CDMA iPhone isn’t that new. Then there was more news about the iPhone. It’s too bad Charlie doesn’t use Facebook, because Apple is apparently putting it into the newest rendition of the iPhone OS.

Apple released a new iPad commercial. Trying to get an iPad overseas? Shocked by the delays? Canadians won’t be getting unlimited data from Rogers. China Mobile is interested in bringing the iPad to China. Walmart is interested in selling the iPad.

As for today in Apple conflicts. Adobe bought some ads and wrote a letter in support of their interests. Apple was sued by a company out of Washington. Then HTC decided to get in on the action. Our friends at Shure didn’t have a good day in the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals.

In today’s edition of Apple patents. There was one about iPhone payment app. (It’s really confusing) Interactive glasses-free 3D holographic displays was actually rather simple. There was the location-based service for iPhone patent. If you thought we were done with all of those iPhone app trademarkings, think again.

If you’d like a ridiculous iPhone case (it’s actually only $182)… anyway. David Letterman is switching.
