Review: Bongiovi Acoutics Digital Power Station Plug-In

Posted onMarch 11th, 2010

We listen to quite a bit of music. And by ‘quite a bit’, we mean excessive amounts. For the most part, the majority is played via iTunes through a variety of output sources. There are plenty of hardware options to improve sound, software options on the other hand are pretty limited. The concept of an iTunes audio plug-in is not something entirely new. But up until a couple of weeks ago we had only heard of one, SRS Labs’ iWOW. That changed with the introduction of Bongiovi Acoustics’ Digital Power Station. We had played around with iWOW before, but never had really taken a liking to it, our one question had always been was it the execution that we didn’t like or the concept itself? Time to find out we suppose.

Review: MainMenu

Posted onFebruary 24th, 2010

A while back, my Mac was moving slow and at times it even stalled when running the simplest types tasks. At that time, I went on a search to find the perfect application that would solve my problem and get my Mac working great again. In my search, I did find a few applications but only one stood out like MainMenu did. Created by CreativeBe, MainMenu is “a powerful maintenance tool to keep your Mac running like new” and we are happy to say that they do not lie as this is one extremely versatile and powerful application.

Review: Typinator

Mac OS X has a built-in auto-correct feature. Sometimes it’s right, sometimes it’s wrong and sometimes it just doesn’t pick up what you would like it to. There are a lot of people who type the same words over and over again. The same phrases over and over again. This isn’t us, per say – but you know who you are. ergonis apparently found these two events annoying and decided to make Typinator and today we review it.

Review: SongGenie & CoverScout 3

Posted onFebruary 11th, 2010

iTunes is the place where my organization attempts always seem to fall short, whether i’m looking to find the cover of Yellow Submarine, or finding the man who wrote Vienna. I never seem to have the stamina to complete more then a few songs. Equinux has solved our frustration by developing SongGenie and CoverScout, two applications that supercharge the iTunes organizing experience by turning a weekend project into a 10 minute task.

Review: Cinch

Posted onFebruary 10th, 2010

As we said in our review of KeyCue we use quite a few applications when it comes to how we use our Mac. One of our largest problems is without a doubt the constant shuffle that occurs when it comes to resizing our many windows, particularly painful is the constant resizing of windows that neighbor one another. A little while ago Irradiated Software attempted to fix this problem and created Cinch.

The Tale Of Two iPhone Ringtone Makers

Posted onFebruary 8th, 2010

The iPhone is a revolutionary device, so revolutionary not every ringtone will work, nor are you able to choose a song that already exists in iTunes. That is why companies such as iSkySoft and Pixel Research Labs have created applications specifically designed to create iPhone ringtones. In this review we will be looking at the applications Ringer (Pixel Research Labs) and iPhone Ringtone Maker (iSkySoft).

There are a lot of applications that we use on a daily basis, and quite a few of them are free. We feel that we are only doing a disservice by not telling you about them, so, here’s are first attempt. By no means will these be “full review,” particularly because many of these apps do one or two very specific tasks, but we think we will be able to tell you why we use these apps on a daily basis. First up, MagiCal by Charcoal Design.
