TweetBot, a beautiful way to tweet
Tapbots, the group behind amazing apps such as Pastebot, CalcbotĀ and Weightbot have managed to craft yet another masterpiece with their Twitter client, TweetBot. TweetBot is a full-featured Twitter client that manages to stand out from the others with its meticulous UI that utilizes smart gestures, support for multiple timelines, customizable tab bar and much more.
At its core, Tweetbot has three gestures which can make your life easier. The first being the Double-tap, which when used on a Tweet, Link or Avatar will open their respective details. The second core gesture is the Tap and Hold, which will open an option menu for whichever element you select. And the last core gesture, and my personal favorite, is a configurable Triple Tap! You can configure it to automatically open a reply-to Tweet, favorite, retweet and even translate a Tweet.
In addition to TweetBot’s core gestures, you also have to ability to quickly swipe to the right of a Tweet to view a conversation thread, and swipe to the left to reveal any replies. This might not sound groundbreaking, but it’s one of those little feature that makes Tweetbot truly a pleasure to use.
Another unique characteristic of TweetBot that sets it apart from competitors is its customizable tab bar. The last two tabs in the Timeline view can be used to easily view retweets instead of search. Or maybe managing your Lists take priority over your Favorite Tweets. Either way, YOU have control over TweetBot, not the other way around. And on top of that, the tabs are also effortessly interchangable. So by simply holding down the tab for a second, you can change it for another section of your choice.
Multiple Timelines are nothing new, but as of yet, I have yet to encounter a Twitter client that allows me to switch between my Lists so fluidly. TweetBot alone made me create lists for my TheMacFeed co-workers and friends.
A few other rather intriguing features worth mentioning are interaction sounds, auto URL shortening, photo/video/note uploading, new tweet notification bar (very useful), ability to mute users, native push notifications andĀ Favestar.fm integration.
All things considered, I do not hesitate whatsoever to recommend TweetBot to my friends, family, followers and readers. It truly is a Twitter client with the personality to merit TheMacFeed stamp of approval. It’ll set you back $3 (App Store Link).
