Review: Mobi Stand

Let me start off by saying that this has been the hardest review to date. The Mobi Stand is a recycled piece of wood with a slit in the side designed to hold a number of different devices, iPhone and iPod Touch included. The issue is that these come in differing designs based on the piece of wood used. On their website and ads, these are rounded. Mine, square. This review will focus on mainly the core idea behind the Mobi Stand.

Green

I think the main only group of people this is focused at is the environmentalists, the people who want to do their part for the world. My Mobi Stand is made of 120 year old barn wood, which is quite cool as it is sort-of history. If it was from a barn built 120 years ago, think how long that tree must have been standing before it was cut down. And now, 120+ years later, it is still being used. I say this to help push the fact that this is a green alternative to the traditional stand, focused at a group of people. I myself am not in that group.

Not pretty

The Mobi Stand is definitely a conversation starter as it is the odd ball on the desk. Quite frankly, I tend to push it aside when it is on my desk, and when I do need to prop my iPhone up, I use the Munkey Stand (review to come). Why? I cant help but feel that the Mobi Stand is dirty with its charred feel and awkward due to its design.

It just works

If you are looking for a device stand that will work with mostly any case, and hold the phone in both landscape and portrait view, the Mobi Stand fits the job, and it is completely green.

Conclusion

Buying the Mobi Stand is buying a chance, you have no idea what yours is going to look like, how old it is, and what color wood it is made of. It works with an iPhone with a case which is a great addition. You can get your own hand crafted stand for just $9 and shipping. As for a recommendation, I will leave it up to you.
