Opinion: The importance of Apple’s Tablet

Posted onDecember 31st, 2009

Apple’s tablet device is coming, the question at this point seems to be we whether it’s coming on the 26th of January. One might point out that we have had tablet computers for a while, that they haven’t caught on; e-book readers are starting to take success and that Apple seems to be doing just fine. All of these are true, but this is Apple – they do not respond, rather they innovate. This article serves to examine that which is likely to be Apple’s tablet and the importance it will have.

Review: Geekbench

Posted onDecember 29th, 2009

Today we are going to review Geekbench; a well known benchmarking application for Mac, Windows, Solaris, and Linux which was created by Primate Labs. In short it is an application that allows you to know how your computer stacks up compared to other peoples. Sadly, we cant seem to find a reason for a Mac user to love it, as Macs are not custom built and all have pretty similar specs (minus the Mac Pro since it has a wide array of upgradable parts & the occasional Hackintosh).

2009, a Year in Review

Posted onDecember 28th, 2009

The year 2009 was an important one for a lot of reasons: America saw its first African-American President, the global economy seemed to take a step towards the right direction and we lost the undisputed King of Pop. On Infinite Loop, 2009 was an important year to say the least: market share rose, products were introduced, an executive returned and the competition, in two key markets, took steps forward. Today, we examine the positives and the negatives and conclude with a couple key topics that will likely shape the success of Apple Inc.

Review: Ecoute

Posted onDecember 23rd, 2009

iTunes is probably one of the most used applications on my Mac, but the size of the player is sometimes a problem. Sometimes I end up having to have continuously switch spaces so I can get on iTunes and change a song which serves as a tedious task. Wouldn’t it be better to have a smaller player on the same space as Safari? Introducing Ecoute – my knight in shining armor – a standalone player that allows you to “browse your entire library. Play your Music, Podcasts, Movies or TV Shows without having to launch iTunes.” The best part is that it brings one of the most beautiful user interfaces that I have ever seen.

While using Ecoute, I have found that it works beautifully, smoothly, and overall… it Rocks. Puns aside, the UI is something worth bragging about. With its smooth lines, dark colors, and round edges there is nothing you can hate about this application. The preference popup is extremely simplistic having only 5 panes (that have options for the app) and an additional pane for your registration. In the preferences you can choose from: general, shortcuts, themes, remote, social, and registration.
