Swan M10 Update

Without a doubt, we receive more questions regarding the Swan M10 (Read the original review, here) then any other product. So, we only thought it was fair that we give another round of thought and a basic F.A.Q. given what we get asked. To get to the point, we love the Swan M10s more then we did when we first plugged them in. Age has treated them well and the sound has become richer and deeper as the speakers have fully burned in. Crisp highs are accompanied by deep lows as beauty exits the black tweeters and gold woofers.

F.A.Q. 1. So if it doesn’t have a subwoofer, what does it have? Let’s call it a “midwoofer” or a very directional subwoofer, but we are just going to go with “midwoofer.” Naming is fairly irrelevant to how it performs, it actually is completely irrelevant. The woofer unit should be placed directly in front of your ears for best results, as opposed to the traditional placement of a subwoofer on the floor. The woofer unit gets deep (-42hz to 5khz), but not incredibly low. We emphasize that the sound that is replicated is pleasing, but it’s not like a traditional subwoofer. Rather then ground rattling bass, the midwoofer replicates the sound of what a subwoofer sounds like. It’s not to say that there is no vibration, but the reduced amount of vibration allows for a cleaner low-end reproduction.

2. Where can I purchase these? Still, the only place we know of is TheAudioInsider.

3. But they are backordered? That might be true, but no other retailer to our knowledge has even offered the M10s in recent memory.

4. What Kind of Cables are Needed? Each speaker features a single RCA connection, these cables are non-removable. These plug into the back of the woofer unit. Above the connection for the speakers lies the connections for the device. These are also RCA connections (L/R Audio) and Swan includes a RCA to 1/8th inch adaptor allowing your device to connect to any standard device. (Let’s make this clearer: if you can plug your white iPod earphones into the device, you can plug the Swan M10s)

5. What kind of controls are built into the speaker unit? There is a general volume knob on the front and a dedicated bass control on the back.

6. How can I purchase them outside of the U.S.? Don’t really have much of an answer. Currently TheAudioInsider is not shipping overseas, try contacting Swan in your country.

Please, understand the difference between "then" and "than." "Then" is a reference to the flow of time, whereas "than" references a comparison.

I just found these speakers at www.swanshometheater.com for only 85 bucks. A little better than $109 in my opinion
