Here We Go Again: Apple Store Down (Update)

Steve quashed the rumors yesterday. Think again. Apple’s Online Store is down only fueling the rumors of new: iMacs, MacBooks, Mac minis, mice and who knows what else. We shall keep you posted to see if this is something other then just another maintenance update.

Update: And They Did It
Apple updated numerous products today, as rumored the iMac, MacBook and Mac Mini all received significant updates. Also, Apple introduced a brand new mouse and a redesigned Apple Remote. We will quickly highlight the updates to each product after the jump.

MacBook
Retains the $999 price while the specs update to a 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB DDR3 Ram, 250GB hard drive and the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics card. The two largest changes come in the shape, with the MacBook finally switching to a polycarbonate unibody design and the battery life being bumped to 7 hours.

iMac
In an odd numbering move Apple updated the sizes of the iMac (previously 20 and 24 inches) to LED-backlist displays at 21.5 and 27 inches. The low-end iMac now features the 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor while retaining the same $1,199.00 pricepoint. Apple boasts that the 16:9 widescreen viewing ratio is perfect for HD movies. The high-end iMac features a quad-core Intel Core i5 processor at 2.66GHz and ATI Radeon HD 4850 graphics with 512MB. The iMac can now be customized to reach a price of over $3,800 well into the Mac Pro’s territory.

Mac Mini
Mac Mini fans will love the upgrades given to the Mini, specifically the option for a 2.66GHz processor. Apple boasts that the Mac mini is the world’s most efficient desktop computer using less than 14 watts. The largest update came in the form of the option for a Snow Leopard Serve Mac mini. Starting at $999 the Snow Leopard Server Mac mini features no SuperDrive (external one USB SuperDrive is a $99 option), however it boasts a 2.53GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 4GB memory, Dual 500GB had drives and Mac OS X Server Snow Leopard. For an additional $799 you can add a Promise SmartStor DS4600 RAID subsystem.

Apple Magic Mouse
For $69 you can replace your Mighty Mouse with the first Multi-Touch mouse. You can click and scroll anywhere on the mouse. The mouse is perfectly ambidextrous and can be even be used with both hands. It features laser tracking and Bluetooth and comes standard with the new iMac, although you can select a more traditional mouse if you desire

Apple Remote
By far the least interesting update came in the form of the Apple Remote. It was however updated to feature the aluminum look and now features three buttons as opposed to two. It is available for $19 in the Apple Store.

I hope they're planning on releasing something new. I've got some spare cash to purchase it if it isn't too expensive!
