Review: DaisyDisk

Picture 1

I use a lot of applications and have reviewed my fair share, but never before has their been a debate that was unanimously settled without a doubt in my mind we had crowned something the champion. And then came along DaisyDisk. Hands down the greatest interface experience of any application. We don’t care that DaisyDisk is a disk utility application, this application is simply beautiful. DaisyDisk is also rather functional, but that’s not really the point or at least the way that we see it.

What is a Disk Utility Application or whatever that thing?

It’s fairly simple, it takes any disk (internal, external, flash, etc) and displays the files on it. Most have some way of displaying through pictures and shapes the sizes of files and folders showing which ones are taking up the most space on said drive. Now, most people would think that Apple would include something like this built into their operating system, but the only application that is built into OSX that shows anything to do with space in pictorial form is Activity Monitor and that solely shows how much of the disk you are using. For someone like me that has not only multiple hard drives, but also hard drives that are filled with tons of media – an application like DaisyDisk becomes invaluable.

And the other features?

There are a variety of disk utility applications that do a variety of different things in a viarety of different ways at a variety of different speeds. Obviously your computers speed and the speed of your hard drive will drastically effect how fast DaisyDisk and other applications can do their respective jobs, but overall DaisyDisk was about 20% quicker then the next closest disk utility application. In addition, DaisyDisk allows users to open media and preview the files directly from the application something that other competitors did not.

Why You Should Buy This Application

The pictures do not do this application justice, that’s why we included a video showing the pure beauty of this application. If Oleg (DaisyDisk) creator ever makes another application, we’d buy it without thinking. While the looks are an impressive reason as to why we think you should definitely add this to the collection, we find that the fact that TheMacFeed readers get 25% off is fairly compelling. All you have to do when ordering is enter “THEMACFEED” and you will receive 25% off of one of our favorite applications. We give DaisyDisk 5 Stars; it’s quick, it works, it has features that none of its competitors possess and it is without a doubt the best looking application out there. DaisyDisk can be purchased directly from Oleg for $19.95, but remember enter the code above to get this app for 25% off. Check out the video below, the pictures really don’t do this application justice.

5 Stars
