When we first contacted iStudio, we figured that their Publisher App was going to be just another Photoshop-like application. We were wrong. iStudio Publisher goes further than any Photoshop want-to-be we have seen. There are so many features in Publisher that it is impossible not to love this application.
Of course Publisher is not as expansive as Photoshop, but it sure is close. If you are making something along the lines of a brochure then you can put in the number of pages you want, and Publisher will format the pages as they would appear in your brochure. At the same time you can open up a new window that displays everything in your first document. This is nice if you just want another view of your page without having to open it up in another application.
Drawing
Another fun thing about Publisher is the ablility to draw and edit your drawings. When your open a new document, to the left you will see a few groups of shapes that you can make on your page. You can do practically anything to these shapes, including warping, coloring, shadowing, writing along the path or border, etc. You can make a gradient, choose whether it is linear or radial, and then pick the degree at which the gradient is angled.
While you can play with pre-made, default shapes, you can also make your own with line tools. There is a tool that allows you to click to points and make a straight line.
There is a tool that lets you create shapes with straight lines. There is a tool for warping lines, and there is even a pen tool for freeform drawing with the mouse. iStudio doesn’t stop there either, you can activate a grid so that you can make your drawings perfectly symmetrical.
Price Tag
Overall, we love iStudio’s Publisher application! It works on all Operating Systems as far back as Apple’s 10.4. This is a big plus, and they follow it up with a price tag of only $49.99! You can also get a “Personal Package” for two computers for just $59.99. There are two other package options: a Family 3-Pack for $69.99 or a Single Computer License 5-Pack for $199.99.
